From the time I can remember, my mother and my aunt would always read the Bible to me. I learned about David and Goliath (the giant), Daniel in the lion’s den, and Noah’s ark. I loved the stories and I loved to see the pictures of these Bible characters too.  My mother and father always took me to church and to Sunday School. There, I learned even more about the Lord and His Word. This gave me a very strong foundation in my faith to which I have not departed from as an adult. This is a very true Bible principle and is right out of the Holy Bible. The Bible verse is found in Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it (KJV). This is so very true and so I want to encourage you to train up your child in God’s way. I have a recommendation for a children’s Bible that I would like to share with you and encourage you to pick one up for your child today.  But before I get into the details, I have a few words to share.

Train up a child in the way he should go

One of the most precious ways that we can use to build meaningful and strong relationships with our children is to read to them every day. Whether it is a children’s story or a Bible story, these times are the most precious and will make for long-lasting beautiful memories!

This not only applies to parents but to grandparents as well. I am now a grandparent and I find that the time I am spending with my grandchild is one of the most important and endearing parts of my life.

Teaching my grandson

I am embracing every moment of his life and I am reading to him all the time.  I know that I am leaving an impression on him and I want to leave him my legacy of loving and serving the Lord.

My hope is that he too, will grow up with the same love for the Lord and will dedicate his life to serve the Lord. And, I want to teach him to memorize scripture because it will stay with him his entire life. Again, it goes back to “train up a child.”

Bring them up in the nurture of the Lord

When we share God’s Word with our children and explain what it is saying to them, we are “training” them in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

The Bible says in Ephesians 6:4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord (KJV). According to this verse, we are not to “provoke” our children to wrath or anger. This means we are not to treat them in such a way that it would discourage them or upset them to the point of anger. We are, however, to raise them using the guidelines that God has given us in His Word and train them accordingly.

My favorite verse

Another favorite Bible verse that my mother and aunt gave to me to memorize is Proverbs 3:5,6 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths (KJV).

This has been a favorite of mine my entire life. I couldn’t help but memorize it because my aunt wrote it in every single birthday and Christmas card she gave me. I will never forget her and I love her for teaching me this verse. This Bible verse has carried me throughout my life.

My life from early adulthood to about the beginning of middle-age had been a pretty rocky road. I have been through a lot of bad situations, however, I trusted in the Lord and He brought me through every single one and without harm. I cannot tell you just how many times I quoted that scripture out loud and just hearing those words gave me great strength and peace!

What I love about this Kid’s Study Bible

What I love about this kid’s study Bible is that it has explanatory pages before each book. For instance, the book of Genesis has a page titled “The First Book of Moses Called Genesis.” The rest of the page has questions and answers on: what you will learn in this book, who wrote the book, when was it written or when did it take place, who are the main characters and take a closer look. The take a closer look section gives specific events and where to find them in the book.

Memorize Bible verses aid

Here is another awesome feature. There are “Hide It In Your Heart” sections throughout the Bible with specific verses for your child to memorize.

This Bible is indicated for children ages 8 to 12 and is perfect to introduce the Holy Word of God to your child. But, as you will see below, many adults are getting this Bible for themselves too. See below.

Not just for kids!

This Bible is an excellent study Bible not only for kids, but for adults too! There are so many facts, maps and information that this makes for an awesome study for anyone who wants to learn.

It has the words of Jesus in red type which is a must for any Bible. It is truly a wonderful way to know for sure when it is Jesus who is speaking.

Many parents are saying that they ordered one of these Bibles for their children and now they are ordering one for themselves. They loved it so much!

My final thoughts

It is my sincerest hope that you will find this information helpful and encouraging. Psalm 119:105 states “ Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” (KJV). This has certainly been true for me as God’s Word has always guided me, gave me peace and my walk with the Lord grew deeper the more I read and memorized His Word. I hope this will be the same for you and your children. May God richly bless you and your children!
