Baby Play Yard (Should you use one?)

……

Somewhere from 6 to 7 months of age, your baby will start to pull herself up on her hands and knees rocking back and forth eventually starting to crawl. At this time you need to baby proof your house and decide how and when you will be able to supervise your baby. This is a good time to consider getting a baby play yard.

Watch that baby

As you already know, the minute your baby finds an object (no matter what it is) she is going to take it straight to her mouth. So, never leave your baby unattended – she can be as fast as the speed of light!

Back in the day, playpens were the greatest invention ever – besides sliced bread! I used them for my boys and I never thought of them as a “jail” for babies. They were a lifesaver when I needed to get some housework done and didn’t have time to watch the baby. I guess nowadays, things are different. I have spoken with parents and some of them do think of it as a baby jail. I guess everyone has their opinion – and that’s ok. So the saying goes “different strokes for different folks.”

A lifesaver!

Baby play yards, however, seem to be the “playpen” of our day. They are a type of baby gate that sets up in an octagon shape (it has 8 panels) and snap in place. These too will save the day! It keeps your baby safe and out of trouble!

One thing I liked about the playpen was that it sat off the floor. It was one unit with mesh sides, padded arm rails, and a floor in it with a mattress. Your baby was not on the floor and so would be more comfortable and warmer too. However, you can purchase a mat to place on the floor for your baby for more comfort. You can find one here. This folding ABC mat is made specifically for this play yard and will fit perfectly.

I have attached the link for it below and you can purchase it here!

About the play yard

This is made out of heavy-duty plastic with a bright multicolor finish. This will brighten up your baby’s play as they absolutely love bright colors! This play yard unfolds and folds super easy and within seconds. You can fold it up in a flash when you want to go. Oh, and it has a carrying strap too.

The size is perfect as it encloses up to 34.4 square feet (over 7 feet across) and is 26 inches high.

Set-up is easy. The panels snap together, although make sure you pay attention to the directions when you first set it up. The panels go “one way.” So don’t force those panels the wrong way as they could break. As long as you follow the directions, you will be okay.

Also, you can use this baby play yard inside or outside.

So should you use a baby play yard?

The whole idea behind this play yard is to keep your baby safe.  There are times when you need a minute to get something done and need a safe place for your baby to play. Or, you may be visiting at a friend’s or grandma’s house and will want to bring this with you so you can put the baby down and let her play. Chances are that your friend’s or grandma’s house is not baby proofed and you need to be cautious about what she could get into. That’s where this baby play yard comes in to play. No pun intended, ha ha.

But on a serious note, my answer to this question is a resounding yes!
