Are you looking for a way to teach your children the Bible and to help them learn key Bible verses? How about finding a great family game that you can play that will be both educational and fun? Well I have a perfect solution and it is this game here – So You Think You Know The Bible. In this blog, I will show you some additional skills your child will learn and the benefits of Bible games for kids.
What kind of game is “So You Think You Know The Bible”?
The game listed above is a game of Bible trivia. Trivia is actually a way to exercise your brain. There are many great advantages to playing trivia. Let’s see the many ways this can not only teach you new things but increase your cognitive function.
- Cognitive function. Per Merriam-Webster dictionary, the definition of the word cognitive is: “of, relating to, being, or involving conscious intellectual activity (such as thinking, reasoning, or remembering).” When you are playing a trivia game, you are given a question about a topic and are asked for the answer. You then must “think” about what the answer may be which in turn is exercising your brain muscle. Every time you are trying to come to an answer, you are “stretching” your brain using critical and/or creative “thinking.”
- Memory. Trivia improves memory. When you are playing trivia, whether or not you initially know the answer, you are going to exercise your memory to search for the information. There could be a whole chapter written about memory because there is short-term and long-term memory, and different methods that you can use to help you memorize information. Also, there are different foods you can eat to enhance your memory capabilities. Getting the proper amount of sleep will also affect your memory.
- Socialization. When your child plays trivia, he/she is not only having fun while learning, but is also learning cooperation in a group and how to “take turns.”
- Thinking under pressure. When you play trivia, you have to come up with the answer in a set amount of time. Therefore, it enables you to exercise your brain in such a way as it is “training your brain” to think very quickly while aiming for a correct answer.
