Are you looking for a way to teach your children the Bible and to help them learn key Bible verses? How about finding a great family game that you can play that will be both educational and fun? Well I have a perfect solution and it is this game here – So You Think You Know The Bible. In this blog, I will show you some additional skills your child will learn and the benefits of Bible games for kids.

What kind of game is “So You Think You Know The Bible”?

The game listed above is a game of Bible trivia. Trivia is actually a way to exercise your brain. There are many great advantages to playing trivia. Let’s see the many ways this can not only teach you new things but increase your cognitive function.

  1. Cognitive function. Per Merriam-Webster dictionary, the definition of the word cognitive is: “of, relating to, being, or involving conscious intellectual activity (such as thinking, reasoning, or remembering).” When you are playing a trivia game, you are given a question about a topic and are asked for the answer. You then must “think” about what the answer may be which in turn is exercising your brain muscle. Every time you are trying to come to an answer, you are “stretching” your brain using critical and/or creative “thinking.”
  2. Memory. Trivia improves memory. When you are playing trivia, whether or not you initially know the answer, you are going to exercise your memory to search for the information. There could be a whole chapter written about memory because there is short-term and long-term memory, and different methods that you can use to help you memorize information. Also, there are different foods you can eat to enhance your memory capabilities. Getting the proper amount of sleep will also affect your memory.
  3. Socialization. When your child plays trivia, he/she is not only having fun while learning, but is also learning cooperation in a group and how to “take turns.”
  4. Thinking under pressure. When you play trivia, you have to come up with the answer in a set amount of time. Therefore, it enables you to exercise your brain in such a way as it is “training your brain” to think very quickly while aiming for a correct answer.

Why Children Need Naps

As the owner of this website, I have searched out some special deals for some of the products and services mentioned herein. When you use the links on this page to make a purchase, I will receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. All opinions remain my own. Full disclosure.

Sleep is an important part of life for everyone. It is especially important for your preschooler. Children around the age of 3 to 5 require 11 to 13 hours of sleep every day which can include a nap. Their brains are growing as well as the rest of their bodies and so sleep plays a huge role in healthy development and growth. Whether your child is in preschool or at grandma’s house every day, you need a special place for him/her to take a nap. That is where the toddler nap mat comes in to play. The one I will be reviewing is perfect to suit this need and is made for travel. Also, you will understand why children need naps.

Sleep is essential for growth

Sleep is essential for growth and development. It is also important for your child to be able to focus and learn new information. With good sleep patterns, your child will feel fewer negative emotions and will fall asleep faster at bedtime.

Sleep is essential for learning

Just like for adults, when children do not get enough sleep their brains are “foggy.” Have you ever heard the expression, “brain fog?” Well, it is the same for our children too.

And, not only is there brain fog, but irritability comes along with it too! You can always tell a child who has not had enough sleep. Can you say “CRANKY?”

Children cannot learn anything when they are cranky and have brain fog. It’s just a fact.

Sleep is essential to focus

This kind of goes along with the “brain fog” issue because one cannot “focus” if they are experiencing brain fog. It is amazing what proper sleep will do for someone. It not only makes you feel great but is a big part of true health.

When you sleep, your brain is being re-energized and your body is being refreshed as well.

Sleep is essential for mood

Getting the proper amount of sleep will definitely affect your child’s mood. When we sleep, our bodies get a chance to rejuvenate and refresh. This includes our brain function. Children especially need the extra sleep because they are still growing and their nervous systems are still developing.

Sleep will not only affect mood, but it is important for memory, and attention span.

Let’s talk naptime

Depending on the time your child starts her/his day, will depend on the time of day for a “nap.” For instance, my grandchild gets up at 5:00 am and is dropped off at my house by 6:00 am. That is quite an early start for a 2 1/2-year-old.

Generally speaking, my grandson is in a pretty good mood at that early hour. But, by the time 11:00 am rolls around, I can see his eyes looking tired.

Our routine consists of playtime including reading a book and putting together small puzzles, then around 8 to 9 am breakfast, and then a movie or cartoon time. By then it is 11:00 am and he is ready for his nap. I have set this routine in motion from the start and it works wonderfully. Actually, by naptime, grandma is ready for a small break too!

An ideal spot for a nap

Since I live in a two-story house, I do not put my grandson in my spare bedroom upstairs. I need to be able to keep an eye on him so I keep him downstairs with me.

Having a nap mat is the way to go at my house and I want to share one with you. This nap mat is ideal no matter where your toddler/preschooler is during the day. This will work at grandma’s, daycare, or preschool.

Your child will love his/her nap mat or as I like to call it – a sleeping bag. Your little one will be excited to “go for a nap” when he’s with you!!

Check it out below. I have listed a few different pattern choices with their links below. Click on the links or the pictures to check the price and to purchase. Get yours today while supplies last!

Top 50 Memory Verses for Kids

As the owner of this website, I have searched out some special deals for some of the products and services mentioned herein. When you use the links on this page to make a purchase, I will receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. All opinions remain my own. Full disclosure.

There are many things that we as parents have to do to prepare our children for the real world. For example, we send them to school to learn how to read and write along with other necessary skills, but there is one thing that we should never forget to do. What is that “one thing” you may ask? The answer to that question is: Teach your children from a very young age about the Lord and how to memorize the scripture. For in doing this, you will have equipped them with the “sword of the spirit” which is the Word of God (Ephesians 6:17). They will always be able to lean on the Lord and their faith will be strong! I have found a creative and fun way for you to teach your child –  50 top memory verses for kids – perfect for ages 5 thru 10. Let’s take a look.

(As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases)

Your Word is a lamp unto my feet

…and a light unto my path Psalm 119:105. This is the first memory verse in the book. The theme for the first chapter is God Guides Us. You will find a Bible lesson about walking the right path and how the Bible gives us the wisdom to make the right decisions or choices.

You will find games that your children can use for help in memorizing the memory verse for that chapter.

In addition, there is a craft that the children can do which will complement the Bible verse and serve as a reminder of the scripture.

There are Bible stories from Matthew 4:16, Matthew 5:16, John 8:12, and John 12:36.

Next, there are more activities for the kids to do, and then comes my favorite section. This section is called “Light to My Path.

This section gives a particular circumstance such as “you’re at a friend’s house and they want to watch something you know you’re not supposed to be watching. What should you do? Proverbs 11:5-6 is given right below the question.

There are 16 different scenarios given with a scripture verse for the answer. This is an awesome way to show your children what God’s Word has to say about these different situations and to know what to do about them.

Some parents are using this as a weekly memory verse guide and lesson plan with art for homeschooling. They use it in addition to the Bible.

My conclusion

The importance of teaching our children God’s Word cannot be stressed enough. There are verses in the Bible for every life situation there is and it is there to comfort and guide us into the Lord’s beautiful truth. Let’s teach our children to learn and love God’s Word and to know the One who made them! Their walk will be secure and they will have good success!

Joshua 1:7-9 (NIV) states: “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

And of course, I want to close with my favorite Bible verse:

Proverbs 3: 5-6 (NKJV)Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.”

The Best Snack Foods for Toddlers

As the owner of this website, I have searched out some special deals for some of the products and services mentioned herein. When you use the links on this page to make a purchase, I will receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. All opinions remain my own. Full disclosure.

Is your toddler a picky eater and do you wonder how in the world you’re going to get him/her to eat vegetables or fruits? We all know that nutrition plays a very big role in being healthy and for children, it is very important for their growth and development – physically and mentally. So how do we get our children to eat healthy without having to “force-feed” them? In this article, I will give you some information about nutrition requirements for toddlers and some recommendations for the best snack foods and drinks for toddlers.

Nutrition requirements for toddlers 2 to 4 years old

Nutrition requirements will be slightly different for boys and for girls. Also, whether your toddler is active versus “very active.”

Let’s start with girls. The daily guidelines for girls ages 2 to 4 are 1,000-1,400 calories per day, depending on growth and activity level. They should get these nutrients daily:

Girls

  • Protein 2 to 4 ounces
  • Fruits 1 to 1 1/2 cups
  • Vegetables 1 to 1 1/2 cups
  • Grains 3 to 5 ounces
  • Dairy 2 to 2 1/2 cups

Now for boys. The daily guidelines for boys ages 2 to 4 are 1,000-1,600 calories per day, depending on growth and activity level. They should get these nutrients daily:

Boys

  • Protein 2 to 5 ounces
  • Fruits 1 to 1 1/2 cups
  • Vegetables 1 to 2 cups
  • Grains 3 to 5 ounces
  • Dairy 2 to 2 1/2 cups

How we get our toddlers to love those veggies and fruits

I think we all know how picky little kids can be over the foods they will want to eat. Some children are not as picky, however I think it is safe to say the majority of them are!

After having raised 3 children, I know first hand how frustrating it is for parents. And now, I am going through it all over again with my grandson. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely adore taking care of him and I cherish every second! But there are those challenging moments when I want him to eat his vegetables and I had to find a creative way to get him to eat them!

So here’s what I came up with. Don’t over fret at meal times when your little one is playing around with his food and making faces. Feed him what he will eat and then supplement with those veggies and fruits. It is of no use to try to “make” him eat those carrots or steamed broccoli. It will only upset him and make him more determined to not eat those veggies.

Here is what I do:

Healthy snack ideas – toddler

So how do you get your little one to eat those veggies and fruits? I have found that fruits are a lot easier to give to your toddler because they sure do like the sweetness of the fruit. The problem always seems to be with the vegetables.

I have found a solution for this problem and I tested it on my grandson who happens to be 2 years old as of the date of this writing. I am very picky when it comes to buying groceries for myself and my family and so I always choose organic.

I prefer organic foods largely because they contain the least amount of “toxins” as I like to call it. I want the food I purchase to be as pure as possible with the least amount of chemicals. I have a post titled What is Organic Baby Food?   in which I give you a guide to choosing pure baby food. Also, there are links in there for some great and healthy smoothies for your child!

Here below are my solutions to getting your toddler to eat vegetables. Your little one is going to absolutely love these nutritious snacks!

Broccoli curlz-  this snack is made from pure and nutrient-rich ingredients – organic chickpeas and lentils and baked with broccoli. These are an excellent and creative way to add veggies to your child’s diet.

Next, I have below another great healthy snack. It is sweet potato and cinnamon curlz. These are made the same way as for the broccoli except sweet potato and cinnamon are the ingredients. The cinnamon is very light and not overly used.

Both the broccoli and the sweet potato flavors are made from pure and nutrient-rich ingredients – organic chickpeas and lentils.

Let’s look at fruits

Fruit snacks are a favorite of most toddlers I know. The important thing to watch is to know how much sugar is contained in those snacks. Our children do require sugar, however just not “too much.”

I always like to keep fresh fruit on hand however I do like to have the fruit chews available too. I like to keep a variety of foods on hand to avoid giving the same foods over and over again.

These fruit chews are made with whole grain rice and real fruits. There is no added sugar to this snack. Your child will love them!

Organic juice

When your toddler is running around playing, there is no better drink to give with a healthy snack than Honest Kids organic juices. I always keep a few boxes on hand for my grandson as he loves these juices and I love them because there are no added sugars.

Here are some links to a few varieties of flavors.

My conclusion

Whether your child is a picky eater or not, the fruit and veggies snacks and drinks above are a sure way to make sure your child is eating a nutritious diet. Get them started out the right way and they will hold to healthy eating patterns when they are grown.

I hope you enjoyed this blog and if so, please drop me a line in the comment section below, I would love to hear from you!

A Holy Bible for Your Teen

As the owner of this website, I have searched out some special deals for some of the products and services mentioned herein. When you use the links on this page to make a purchase, I will receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. All opinions remain my own. Full disclosure.

There is no question that we live in some unprecedented times. The world has undergone quite a challenge with the Covid-19 pandemic and everyone is under stress. Our kids are feeling stress and anxiety too. For example, they once used to be able to attend school “in-person” and now have been attending school online and confined to their homes. This alone can be very detrimental to them as they cannot “see” their friends like they used to. Anxiety levels have sky-rocketed over the last year and many people are truly turning to the Holy Bible and seeking the Lord. I say that these people are very wise in doing so as Jesus Christ is truly our only and blessed hope!  If you do not already have a Bible for your teenager, please take a look below as I have reviewed and posted a link for the New International Version (NIV) Teen Study Bible that is suited perfectly for teenaged kids. A Holy Bible for your teen! Please prayerfully consider getting one today for a teen you know. See below.

Why a Bible for your teenager?

There are thousands of young people all over the world who have difficulty in life. Many of these teens are committing suicide and many are turning to drugs and alcohol thinking these things will give them an escape. But the truth is, neither suicide nor drugs and/or alcohol are going to help them. Those things lead to death and eternal separation from God.

There are kids who may not be as distraught as noted above but are battling some form of depression, anxiety or just feeling insecure. The teenage years are difficult for many reasons and sometimes it’s just the “hormones” that get the best of them.

Whatever the case, there is a common denominator that all kids have and that is the need to know the Lord. Life is not easy for anyone, it has its ups and it has its downs. The only way we can truly deal with whatever life hands us is to know the Lord and be grounded in His Word.

Let’s help our kids find true peace in the Lord of Heaven who loves them with incredible love! Let’s give them the greatest tool in the world – God’s Word.

The teen study Bible speaks to these kids in a language that they understand and can relate to.

There are sections in there that teach and help them apply God’s word to their everyday lives.

Kids need a true source of peace and security and they will only find it in the word of God. There are many other solutions, you may say, but I tell you the truth that any solution other than Jesus Christ and His Word will only be temporary.

God’s solutions to our problems will last for eternity!

Jesus said in John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

I have searched for Bibles that would be a fit for teenage kids and found the Teen Study Bible (NIV version) to be well suited for them. I have links below for these Bibles in soft, imitation leather in colors of brown, pink, and blue. They are very reasonably priced and offer a high-value content of helpful teachings for teens.

The Bible will show them the path that leads to “life.” The scriptures will tell them that they are “loved” by a wonderful Father who gave His very life for them and who will never leave them or forsake them. Hebrews 13:5 states “Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”

Nothing can separate us from the love of God. See what the word of the Lord says here:

Romans 8: 38, 39 states “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

In John 14:21 Jesus said “Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.

Reading God’s Word brings great peace, strength, and security to your life and to all who read His Word.

. Teen reading the Word of God

Proverbs 2: 1-8 speaks about learning God’s word and seeking Him as you were searching for precious metals such as silver or gold. When you do, you will be guarded by the Lord and are promised success. Read it here:

My son, if you accept my words
and store up my commands within you,
turning your ear to wisdom
and applying your heart to understanding—
indeed, if you call out for insight
    and cry aloud for understanding,
and if you look for it as for silver
and search for it as for hidden treasure,
then you will understand the fear of the Lord
and find the knowledge of God.
For the Lord gives wisdom;
from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
He holds success in store for the upright,
he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless,
for he guards the course of the just
and protects the way of his faithful ones.

Then the next verses of 9 – 11 (Proverbs chapter 2) state: “Then you will understand what is right and just
    and fair—every good path.
10 For wisdom will enter your heart,
and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.
11 Discretion will protect you,
    and understanding will guard you.”

What a wonderful passage to share with your teenage son or daughter!

Girl reading Bible

The Lord will guide your path

Proverbs 3:5-6 states: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart
    and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit (acknowledge) to him,
and he will make your paths straight (guide your path).

This is a great one to memorize for your teen and you as well! Is your son or daughter confused about something like choosing a career path? Or, maybe there is a difficult situation and a decision needs to be made? Whatever the case may be, read this verse over and over and take your concerns to the Lord in prayer – He is listening and He will answer!

The Teen Study Bible (NIV) has Q & A’s for additional learning

The reason I like this Bible is that it contains sections with biblical advice about common stressors that young people may face. These sections also offer Bible advice about dealing with depression, problems with friends, etc.

Some more features are:

  • Book introductions before each book of the Bible giving an overview.
  • It has Q & A’s which will test your knowledge of the Bible.

Younger children

If you have a child who is in the 6 to 12 years of age range, click my link here to take you to a prior post of mine called “Train Up A Child in God’s Way” to find a great study Bible for children. This Bible too has many teaching aids and memory verse guides.

My final thoughts

In the days in which we are living, it is of utmost importance we read and help our children read the Holy Bible for it has the answers and comforts we seek. The Lord has provided us with His Word to guide us through this life. We must seek Him with our whole heart and when we do, we will find him.

Jeremiah 29:11-13 says “11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”

I pray you and yours seek the Lord with all your heart!

Daily Devotions for Kids are Important

As the owner of this website, I have searched out some special deals for some of the products and services mentioned herein. When you use the links on this page to make a purchase, I will receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. All opinions remain my own. Full disclosure.

“I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11. These beautiful words from our great God and Savior, are steadfast and true! This applies to you and to me and all of our precious children. It is one of my favorite go-to verses when feeling anxious about the future. Every morning I spend time in the Bible and in prayer. This is my special “alone time” with the Lord. Everyone’s “special time” will be different because we all have different schedules. We need to schedule a specific time each day and commit to it. Even more importantly, we need to lead our kids into daily devotion and prayer time. Daily devotions for kids are important! I found an awesome year-round daily devotion for children that includes family participation too. This will get your kids excited about the Bible and they are gonna have a blast too!

Why a daily devotion?

Matthew 6:11 says “Give us this day our daily bread.” Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ stated these words when He taught the Lord’s Prayer. Daily bread is just what it means – daily. Bread is referring to God’s Words, the Bible.

Deuteronomy 8:3 states “So He humbled you, allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord.” This scripture is saying that man does not live by “physical food” alone, but lives by every word that comes from the Lord.

Every day we must eat food for our bodies or else we will die. It is the same for our spirit and soul. If we do not read and absorb God’s Word (our spirit and soul’s food), we will die spiritually. This is what is meant in the scripture verse above. “Man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord.”

Decide “when”

As I stated earlier, everyone has different work and school schedules. The best thing you can do for yourself and your child is to sit down together and decide when the best time would be for each of you to set aside for “devotional time.”

For myself, I prefer the mornings when I get up and have my coffee. This is when the house is quiet and I am alone with my Bible and the Lord. This is the most precious time of my day. I read, pray and seek the Lord’s direction for the day.

This is a commitment, but so very important. It is times like this I find the greatest joy and peace that only Jesus can give.

For your child, maybe mornings are not the best time. So, maybe set aside time after school or right after dinner. Sit down with your child and pick a time that will work.

Choose a special place

It is important that you choose a spot in your home that is free of distractions. Turn off the TV, silence the cell phones, and put away any other items that would cause an interruption.

A family devotion

Here is the devotional that I highly recommend to you if you are looking for one that can involve all your children and you. Take a look at the link below.

Hands-On Bible 365 Devotions for Kids: Faith-Filled Activities for Families

(As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases)

Pictured above is a great devotional for your kids and the whole family. This will really be a great way to start your children in the habit of having their “special time” with the Lord.

The reading age is from 6 to 12 years old. There are 365 devotionals which means there is one for every day of the year.

The devotionals start off with a Bible verse. Then it talks about the Bible verse and how your child can apply it to himself/herself.

Next, there is a “do” section. There will be a fun activity for your child to do and if you have other children they can do the activity together.

There is another section that directs them to pray. It gives a prayer to guide your child in learning how to pray.

Lastly, there are a couple of additional scriptures for your child to look up in his/her Bible.

If you are interested, I have a prior post for a “kid’s study Bible” and you can click here for the post =>  Train Up Your Child in God’s Way.

Building hope and expectation from God

The book of Romans 10:17 states “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

Our faith in God will be made stronger and stronger the more we read His word. This is important for your children and for you.

The Bible is filled with beautiful promises and hope for all of our futures. The more your child reads, studies, and absorbs the Lord’s word, the closer he/she will be with Him and the more emotionally secure he/she will be. Again I will post: “I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11.

Expect great things from the Lord! He is faithful to His word!!

A lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path

Psalm 119:105 states “Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.”

The Lord promises to lead and guide us throughout our entire lifetime. His word is true and sure. You can trust the Lord to keep ALL of His promises to you and your children.

As the scripture above states, His word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path which means He lights up our path and leads us to His perfect will for our lives. When you follow Jesus, you will have good success.

See Joshua 1:8: “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

Psalm 48:14 states “For this is God, Our God forever and ever; He will be our guide Even to death.”

My conclusion

If we pick a special time each day for our alone time with the Lord, we will find true peace in this troubled world. When we keep our focus on the Lord, we have true joy in knowing He holds all of our tomorrows. We need never worry about a thing.

Philippians 4:6 -7 states “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

He loves us with an everlasting love and will keep us safe from all harm and He will provide for our every need. I sincerely hope that you found this blog helpful and it encourages you to set and keep a devotional time for yourself and your children.

A Way To Bring Comfort To Your Child

As the owner of this website, I have searched out some special deals for some of the products and services mentioned herein. When you use the links on this page to make a purchase, I will receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. All opinions remain my own. Full disclosure.

When I was a child I remember my parents reading to me every night before bedtime. It was my favorite time of the evening. My parents would take turns reading to me at night and I especially liked looking at all the pictures while they read. I had a lot of favorite books, but one set, in particular, was at the top. That set of books was “The Bible Story” and you know what? It remains to be a major favorite for me now! No matter what kind of day I had (when I was little), when my parents read a Bible story to me and we talked about it, my little soul was comforted. I want to tell you here about a way to bring comfort to your child. It works and it is an awesome way to start your child in the Bible.

Suffer the little children

Matthew 19:14 states “But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.

Throughout all of scripture, we see just how much the Lord loves all the little children. In the passage above, Jesus was responding to His disciples when they were trying to push away the people who wanted to have Jesus bless their children.

There are passages throughout the Bible that address children, our responsibility to teach our children and a promise for great peace for our children when they are taught God’s word. I have a couple of passages below for you to see.

Psalm 127:3 states “Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord,
The fruit of the womb is a reward.”

Isaiah 54:13 states “All your children shall be taught by the Lord,
And great shall be the peace of your children.”

So, parents, grandparents, and caregivers, we need to read God’s word to our children and explain it to them in a language they can understand.

One of the very best ways we can do this is to read from the Bible Story set because the entire Bible has been written in language that elementary children can understand. The illustrations are wonderful and your child will love the pictures.

The Bible Story

The Bible Story with 10 volumes was written by Arthur S. Maxwell (aka Uncle Arthur) and originally published in 1953. If you were born in the 1960s or 1970s, I am sure you remember seeing these books at the doctor’s office or the dentist. I know I sure do! Let’s go on.

These are hardcover books and are the most comprehensive set of Bible stories for children there ever was! I have yet to see anything else like it for children!

The entire Bible is covered in these books from beginning to end. The quoted Bible texts are taken from the New International Version (NIV).

The entire Bible in this 10 volume set

The entire Bible is covered, beginning with stories from Genesis in volume 1 and ending with stories from Revelation in volume 10.

A Classic

The Bible Story is definitely a “classic publication” but is the truest according to the Bible. One thing is for sure, God’s Word will never be “outdated” and so we must look at this in much of the same way.

The stories are interpreted to meet the elementary child’s understanding capability and they follow the written word of God precisely.

God is love

The Bible is full of stories telling us how much God loves us and how He always will deliver us. There are stories that tell of great victories such as Daniel in the lion’s den and David and Goliath.

There is a story about 3 young Hebrew boys named Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and they were put into a fiery furnace because they would not bow to an idol. The story tells of how a “4th” man was seen by the king, walking around in the furnace with the 3 Hebrew boys.  The king stated that the 4th person looked like the Angel of the Lord.

The Hebrew boys were let out of the furnace, they were unharmed and did not even smell like smoke! What a testimony!

You will be encouraged as much as your child when you read through all of these wonderful and true stories/histories found in the word of God.

Additional resources

I have a prior post about a wonderful study Bible for children ages 8 to 12 and the title is “Train Up Your Child in God’s Way.” In this post, I tell you about the Kid’s Study Bible and all the great stuff it has. It is an excellent study Bible for kids and adults.

My conclusion

I know you and your child will enjoy this wonderful Bible Story set and will also learn a great deal. You will grow deeper in your walk with the Lord and if you do not know Him personally, I pray you will! God’s word states in John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Are you a “whosoever?”

God bless you and yours,

Evelyn

Train Up Your Child in God’s Way

As the owner of this website, I have searched out some special deals for some of the products and services mentioned herein. When you use the links on this page to make a purchase, I will receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. All opinions remain my own. Full disclosure.

From the time I can remember, my mother and my aunt would always read the Bible to me. I learned about David and Goliath (the giant), Daniel in the lion’s den, and Noah’s ark. I loved the stories and I loved to see the pictures of these Bible characters too.  My mother and father always took me to church and to Sunday School. There, I learned even more about the Lord and His Word. This gave me a very strong foundation in my faith to which I have not departed from as an adult. This is a very true Bible principle and is right out of the Holy Bible. The Bible verse is found in Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it (KJV). This is so very true and so I want to encourage you to train up your child in God’s way. I have a recommendation for a children’s Bible that I would like to share with you and encourage you to pick one up for your child today.  But before I get into the details, I have a few words to share.

Train up a child in the way he should go

One of the most precious ways that we can use to build meaningful and strong relationships with our children is to read to them every day. Whether it is a children’s story or a Bible story, these times are the most precious and will make for long-lasting beautiful memories!

This not only applies to parents but to grandparents as well. I am now a grandparent and I find that the time I am spending with my grandchild is one of the most important and endearing parts of my life.

Teaching my grandson

I am embracing every moment of his life and I am reading to him all the time.  I know that I am leaving an impression on him and I want to leave him my legacy of loving and serving the Lord.

My hope is that he too, will grow up with the same love for the Lord and will dedicate his life to serve the Lord. And, I want to teach him to memorize scripture because it will stay with him his entire life. Again, it goes back to “train up a child.”

Bring them up in the nurture of the Lord

When we share God’s Word with our children and explain what it is saying to them, we are “training” them in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

The Bible says in Ephesians 6:4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord (KJV). According to this verse, we are not to “provoke” our children to wrath or anger. This means we are not to treat them in such a way that it would discourage them or upset them to the point of anger. We are, however, to raise them using the guidelines that God has given us in His Word and train them accordingly.

My favorite verse

Another favorite Bible verse that my mother and aunt gave to me to memorize is Proverbs 3:5,6 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths (KJV).

This has been a favorite of mine my entire life. I couldn’t help but memorize it because my aunt wrote it in every single birthday and Christmas card she gave me. I will never forget her and I love her for teaching me this verse. This Bible verse has carried me throughout my life.

My life from early adulthood to about the beginning of middle-age had been a pretty rocky road. I have been through a lot of bad situations, however, I trusted in the Lord and He brought me through every single one and without harm. I cannot tell you just how many times I quoted that scripture out loud and just hearing those words gave me great strength and peace!

What I love about this Kid’s Study Bible

What I love about this kid’s study Bible is that it has explanatory pages before each book. For instance, the book of Genesis has a page titled “The First Book of Moses Called Genesis.” The rest of the page has questions and answers on: what you will learn in this book, who wrote the book, when was it written or when did it take place, who are the main characters and take a closer look. The take a closer look section gives specific events and where to find them in the book.

Memorize Bible verses aid

Here is another awesome feature. There are “Hide It In Your Heart” sections throughout the Bible with specific verses for your child to memorize.

This Bible is indicated for children ages 8 to 12 and is perfect to introduce the Holy Word of God to your child. But, as you will see below, many adults are getting this Bible for themselves too. See below.

Not just for kids!

This Bible is an excellent study Bible not only for kids, but for adults too! There are so many facts, maps and information that this makes for an awesome study for anyone who wants to learn.

It has the words of Jesus in red type which is a must for any Bible. It is truly a wonderful way to know for sure when it is Jesus who is speaking.

Many parents are saying that they ordered one of these Bibles for their children and now they are ordering one for themselves. They loved it so much!

My final thoughts

It is my sincerest hope that you will find this information helpful and encouraging. Psalm 119:105 states “ Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” (KJV). This has certainly been true for me as God’s Word has always guided me, gave me peace and my walk with the Lord grew deeper the more I read and memorized His Word. I hope this will be the same for you and your children. May God richly bless you and your children!
