When your little guy or gal gets around the age of 3, you start thinking about getting him/her ready for either preschool or kindergarten. We start teaching them colors, counting, and shapes, however, we also should consider getting them toys that help teach these things too. This delightful robot is perfect for capturing and holding your toddler’s attention all the way through to about 7 years of age! In this article, I am going to walk you through the different features and show you how this is effective teaching for your child for many years! Also, it is going to be a lot of fun!

Ages 3 to 6 years

This is a really fun robot for your preschooler because it has flashing lights and he/she will learn shapes, colors, and following directions. Oh, and it teaches counting!

Children older than 3 will enjoy this robot even more because of the challenges and it will stimulate your child’s thinking ability.

There are 3 ways to play – free coding, learning challenges, and “secret codes.”

Free coding

Free coding or independent coding is when your toddler pushes the buttons on the top giving directions to the robot which way to walk and turn. There are up to 10 directional moves that your child can “code” into the robot. The directional moves are forward, backward, left, and right. During the process of moving according to the program set by your child, the robot will talk a lot and involve your child. He repeats back to your child what he/she has programmed in!

Learning challenges

There is a challenge button and when pressed, the robot will give your child coding directions that he/she must set up. When several sequences have been successfully achieved, Kinderbot makes the next directive a bit more challenging.

With this challenge button, Kinderbot makes fun “squeaks”, makes lots of fun music and he dances to each correct set-up. In other words, he rewards your child at the end with a dance!

Secret codes!

Included with Kinderbot are some accessories which include a “secret codebook” and a few accessory tools – plane, axle, wheel, and wedge.

The third button implements the booklet and tools—kids must recreate the step patterns they see in the codebook. This can be a bit challenging for even the adults, so you may find yourself intrigued by Kinderbot.

Kinderbot is full of personality!

What makes this robot so different than the rest of the electronic toys on the market is that he is so adorable and full of friendly chatter. He will do some crazy and funny moves and give a “robotic” enthusiastic support to your child when he/she gets it right!

The Kinderbot is a toy that I will be purchasing for my grandson really soon. He is about to turn 3 and this will be a birthday present for him. I am excited for him and can’t wait to see his face light up when I give it to him! Actually, I am kind of excited for myself as I know I will be enjoying this robot too!

When To Use A Booster Seat

Children will go through many stages during the first few years of their life. One of those stages includes when they are ready to sit at the “grown-up” table for their meals. As a parent, you will want to keep your eyes open to spot the tell-tale signs that your little one is ready for a booster seat. In this article, I will discuss what those signs look like, when to use a booster seat, and show you 2 of my recommendations for booster seats. Let’s take a look.

Signs of readiness

Somewhere around the age of 18 months to 2 years of age, your child may be ready for a “change.” By this time your child may be starting to squirm in his/her high chair and may be trying to climb out.

Some children by this age simply do not like to be separated from the big people at the table and they will fuss and cry until you take them out of the high chair and bring them to the table.

In addition, if you see your child trying to unlatch the safety belt and attempting to pull himself/herself out of the high chair, it’s time to put the high chair away. It is a dangerous fall if your little one is successful and falls to the floor.

Time for a boost

When you see any or all of the signs mentioned above, put the high chair away and get a booster seat.

There are many booster seats to choose from, however, you want to purchase one that will fit your chair correctly and be sturdy. You will want it to be comfortable for your child as well.

There are a couple of booster seats that I would like to recommend to you. Both of them are made by Fisher-Price and they are of good quality. One of them has the tray option and the other one does not. Take a look below.

Fisher-Price Healthy Care Booster Seat

The Fisher-Price Healthy Care Booster Seat has a few options that really make this booster seat a great choice.

There are 3 height adjustments to allow for your toddler’s growth. Raise or lower the seat so that your child can sit at the proper level to reach the table.

The booster seat has a 3-point seat harness which is adjustable and will keep your child secure.

There are straps at the back and bottom of the booster to secure it to the chair. This will fit most kitchen and/or dining room chairs. I have this booster seat and it works well with my dining room chairs that have thick cushions on the back and on the seat. This should give you a good idea that it will fit most if not all, kitchen or dining room chairs.

A snap-on tray with a cupholder is included and may come in handy if you take this booster to the restaurant or Grandma’s house. Or, you may just want to use it at home and pull your child next to you.

The tray is very easy to clean and Fisher-Price says it can be washed on the top rack of your dishwasher. I have not put the tray in the dishwasher, so I cannot give a recommendation on this. I have heard of people who did and said the tray was ruined. Who knows? Maybe they didn’t use the top rack and put the tray in the lower part of the dishwasher. If that is what happened, it would explain why it was ruined.

My final thoughts

So here we have it. The booster seat with a tray and one without the tray. Both of these are great choices however I think the one with the tray would work best for a smaller child. The tray will help to keep your child secure and he/she can sit closer to the table with you and be a part of the family conversations.

The Tot Nest Booster Seat would work best for a little larger child since there is no tray and the child can sit close to the table. Whichever seat works best for you I know you will be happy and your child will be happy too!

Lead Your Child With A Journal

When you hold your precious little newborn baby in your arms, the reality sets in that you are holding a “little human.” And, this little human belongs to you! While I know that thought can be a little intimidating, being the mom or dad of this baby will bring great joy and fulfillment to your life. Your journey with your baby has just begun and I know you want to teach him all you can and love him to the moon and back. An important part of this journey is to nurture your little one’s emotional well-being and as he grows, you the parent can encourage the development of a stable, healthy mindset for your child. How will a journal help my child?

A Child Harness for Walking?

I remember when I was a little girl and my mom would take me along shopping. I had a very bad habit of always running off. It would scare her to death and would end up having everyone in the store looking around for me. When I was found, she would give me the biggest scolding anyone has ever seen. Back then, however, there were no such things as a “harness” and I know now that my mother would’ve surely purchased one for me! I myself never had a problem with any of my boys when they were growing up. But I think that if they were ever like me, I definitely would have gotten one. So this brings me to the question, “a child harness for walking?” and I would have to answer a resounding yes! In this article, I will tell you about a harness that is good for children ages 1 through 3 years of age and go over the advantages and disadvantages of a child harness.

Final thoughts

As I mentioned earlier, I myself was one of those “running kids” when I was a toddler. If these harnesses were out back then, I have no doubt my mother would have had one for me!

I know that some people may think that using a child harness may be a cruel thing to do. But I ask you, would you rather your child ran off or someone snatch him? That is a very sobering thought and when you put things in perspective, it is actually cruel to not use one of these. This is just my opinion on the matter and is not to be taken as a judgmental statement.

My conclusion

I sincerely think that if you were to purchase one of these carriers, your life would change. You will be able to carry your little one hands-free and do just about anything! Whether you are working around the house or going to a park, you will be “wearing” your baby and your baby will be loving it!

So, the baby carrier’s purpose? Its purpose is pretty clear by now and that is to give you hands-free carrying ability to do whatever it is you need to do. All the while, you have your baby tucked in close to you all snug as a bug in the rug! 🙂

Cons

Watch out for removing the tags. There was someone who said when they removed the tags, the lounger tore. Just to be fair, it could have been due to their tactic or “how” they removed the tag. I am not exactly sure this would be a “true” con for this product.

My conclusion

I highly recommend all of Boppy’s baby products and I am confident to say that you will find them of great quality as well. There are a lot of knock-offs out there, but the old saying goes – you get what you pay for. That is the absolute truth that I have found for my entire life.

There’s Nothing Like A Boppy Pillow

If you’ve ever held a sweet little baby in your arms for any length of time, you will know what I mean when I say that your arm will eventually feel like it is going to break off or your arm becomes numb. It is the same when you are holding an infant for a feeding. After a while, your arm gets tired and you need to rest it somewhere, right? Do Family Time with Board Games

Life goes at a very fast and busy pace. It seems as the years go by, the pace is increasingly faster. I am not sure if it is due to how we live our lives, you know, we have a very computerized society and everything we touch seems to be “electronic.” We have smartphones, our kids have smartphones and we are all on our phones longer than we should be. We miss out on so much when it comes to spending time with our family. I found a simple, yet profound way to counteract this problem. Let’s take a look at an awesome collection of games and decide to do family time with board games. Also, included with this blog are some ideas for jigsaw puzzles (also considered board games) and how they too can bring us together for precious “family time.”

A lost tradition

Many years ago as I was growing up, my friends and I would get together after school to play. We went outdoors to ride our bikes, roller skate, play ball, jump rope, and ride our bikes again.

On rainy days, we broke out the board games and spent hours playing those. I remember games like Candyland, Monopoly, and Yahtzee. We also enjoyed coloring in our coloring books or drawing pictures.

To kids nowadays, this probably sounds boring and we look like the proverbial caveman, haha. I remember my brother and I and my parents would sit and play Monopoly for hours on rainy Saturdays and Sundays. This was our tradition on New Year’s Eve as well. Oh, I sure do miss those days!

Have you ever heard the saying “the good ole days?” Yes, I am one of those who say that every now and then. I am of the latter of the baby boomers and so to younger people, I am considered old. HaHa. I admit it, but it’s ok. I am. But I would say “older and wiser.”

Mist Away the Stuffy Nose Blues!

Have you ever had a stuffy nose and tried to sleep? Or, how about having bad allergies or a cold, and even after taking antihistamines you still cannot breathe through your nose? I think I am pretty accurate to answer yes for you on these questions. Although not everyone suffers from allergies, everyone does get the common cold every now and then. Babies are no exception and when they get sick, the whole house will lose sleep. I want to tell you about the Vicks Cool Mist Humidifier that works with or without the Vicks inserts, and how it will “mist away the stuffy nose blues!”

What is a cool-mist humidifier?

A cool-mist humidifier is a device that sends moisture into the air. The cool mist somewhat lowers the room temperature and it is safest for children. There is no risk of a child getting burned if the unit gets knocked over.

I want to mention that there are warm-mist humidifiers on the market as well.
